¡Feliz Aniversario Brooke + Travis!
Happy 1-Year Anniversary to Brooke & Travis!! I can't believe it's been a year - whew, it's even been over a year since my last "Happy Anniversary" Blog post, and I've missed a few anniversaries in that time. But c'est la vie, y la vie es muy busy with family and new and fabulous recent and upcoming weddings. So today I'm just stoked to have some fire under my tail to get this super fun and beautiful wedding up on the blog! I knew it would be a good one when Brooke & Travis sent me their save-the-date video. They are clearly a fun couple that has a sense of humor and don't take themselves too seriously. Brooke also had a solid and beautiful vision of what she wanted for the look of her wedding, and they chose Jillian Mitchell as their Photographer Extraordinaire, always a big win in my book. Inspired by a beautiful hand-dyed watercolor fabric which made its way into their lounge pillows and the head table's runner, Brooke incorporated several D-I-Y details into the day, including hand-painted escort cards and watercolor dipped ribbons to tie each guest's napkin. We draped dramatic sweeps of fabric fanning out from the center of the Palapa roof, alternating with globe lights for a soft glow. Drapey curtains on the posts further softened up the look of the interior. My favorite detail from this wedding was a surprise for the couple - we painted their wedding website logo on the walls of the entryway niches in the Palapa - "Travis Loves Brooke" on one side and a mirroring "Brooke Loves Travis" on the other. Brooke & Travis wanted a fun and dramatic photo booth backdrop, and we ended up executing an idea I came across on a family trip to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza - the gift shop where we ate lunch had a wall covered in sombreros where we stopped for a family photo. Brooke & Travis's version turned out fabulous and the shots from Jillian and Christine (her 2nd shooter) are magic - those props (and maybe the free-flowing drinks?) really got people to let loose. Jonas & Julia set the groove for dinner with their soulful sound, and Los Tikkilyches rocked the dance party in their final gig (for now - fingers crossed they will re-unite soon!!).
Brooke & Travis celebrated their first anniversary with a return visit to Sayulita to soak up some sun and romance at the incredible Casa Carricitos. Cheers to you two beautiful people!!
